Quit beating yourself up!
It is human nature to want to grow and succeed. With that being said, it is very common for those that I support to be their own biggest critic. Consider the presence of internal dialogue, self deprecation, and cognitive distortion as opportunities to learn and grow. Your Tool of Self Awareness has filtered these occurrences to the surface and brought them to your attention. Now, let’s do something with them.
Consider reframing the negative mindset, which is well exercised and strong (Old Mental Muscle), to be that of an indicator of an opportunity for further processing and thus growth.
I often experience folks caught in negative thought loops that result in internal conflict and judgement of self. What is the Old Mental Muscle protecting you from? Old Mental Muscle is most likely trying to keep you safe from harm by holding you back, but likely not relevant in the present, as there is likely no risk for harm. It is more cost than benefit, despite its intention to keep you safe.
When you become critical of self, you are more likely to feel stuck or stagnant. If your internal dialogue is telling you that you are incapable, how likely are you to venture down a path of growth by experiencing new tools?
Let's be opportunistic versus our own biggest critic.
Consider Notating what has surfaced; see 10/15-2.
