Notation Vs. Perseveration: Experience Now & Learn Later

With all that we experience navigating the world around us it is nearly impossible to stay ever-present while compounding our thoughts, emotions, internal dialogue, internal conflict, judgement of self, etc (interactions with Passengers in the Vehicle of Life). Your Tool of Self Awareness will indicate these experiences in manners unique to you, so Notate them when they are recognized.
The primary goal of Notating is to provide yourself an opportunity to stay present at all times, so as to allow you to enjoy what it is that you are engaged with, without promoting dissociation and internal & external conflict. The secondary goal is to take control of processing, not in the moment, but when you choose.
Controlled processing is nearly impossible without notation. Three words or less, Notating your experience in the moment, can take you back to the moment at a later time or date, most importantly, when you intentionally choose to process and learn. The action of notation promotes growth through learning, while keeping you grounded in the present.
Keep in mind, Notating is not journaling. I will never minimize the effectiveness of other tools for growth and self awareness, but journaling tends to follow a stream of consciousness and/or storyline. When I refer to the Tool of Notating we are focusing on the moment and our interaction with the internal and external experience that may remove us from the present.
Look for more information regarding the process of “10/15-2” to build your Tool of Notation.
Experience now via Notation, and then Intentionally Process & learn later.
