Old Mental Muscle is that which we have utilized to keep us safe and progressing forward from childhood to now, albeit sometimes at our own expense. I refer to this frequently in support and encourage folks to work through increasing their recognition of their old mental muscle. These muscles are very well exercised, and are strong, stout, and persistent. Mental “passengers” in the Vehicle of Life can often be that of old mental muscle. These muscles has memory. These muscles have likely protected us from harm.
We can not cut out old mental muscle. These muscles were developed as an indicator, a warning, and not meant to be that of a “driver” of the Vehicle of Life. We can not deliberately weaken old mental muscle. Ignoring the muscle strengthens it, unbeknownst to us. Like human physiology, muscles are opposed by others. Consider the value in recognizing old mental muscle in a non critical manner, as a signal for learning and growth potential. Consider growth potential as the development and strengthening or development of New Mental Muscle.
Recognizing Old Mental Muscle is an opportunity; a gift from your self awareness.
